wildflowers are blooming
...butterflies

fairy lanterns
  the soft glow
  of the setting sun

April shower...
the squirrel lays its tail
over its head

foothill nursery
  somewhere among these plants
  a rooster crows

a warm wind
ripples the stilled creek
  scent of mint

no water in the creek
   only crickets
      babbling

cloudburst
  his snoring
  is drowned out

brought in
with the firewood
lizard skin

after her ultrasound
  blue ribbon
   on the gate
