.................................

coming out
from behind her umbrella
spring sun

the arborvitae
full of spiderwebs
  full of rain

suddenly cooler
as the bus crosses the river
summer night

summer heat
ice cream dribbling
down her arm

hot afternoon--
the red light
still not changing

   afternoon heat
a blue heron
   in the condo pond

driving past
the house I grew up in
autumn rain

summer's end --
old men sleeping
on the brewery steps

tiny village
inside the paperweight
snow falling

jigsaw picture
red roofs and a hole
in the sky

    the moon
shining in my empty purse
    a silver coin

scattering her ashes
in the rose garden
a little rain

morning frost
the old wool sweater
full of holes

  torn pockets
in the old coat
  another winter
