new camellia
we take turns counting
the bloom buds
noon sun
a sow suckles her newborns
beneath the wagon
broken pot-
a spider web seals
the drain hole
pulling weeds-
behind his headstone
the broken urn
coldest night
petting the cat
until the first spark
power outage-
a whippoorwill calls
from the tree shadows
night sounds-
the cat weaves her way
through a vertical blind
small-town weekend
piles of raked leaves
in every yard
midnight-
the cat and I share
a pork chop
