first trip to spain

if i had wanted to kiss
it would be good here
the boys with their caramel sneers,
the sun slanted across juniper trees
like a shade at dusk,
half mass
and only a leaf of light
peaks in, and his name was
jesus and i giggled
remembering communion
and the waist-high wedding
dress i wore

to tongue the bread that first
time, and me now,
in my saucy peach skirt cut
high above my tanned knee,
rubbering the boys
with my new nipples
and fresh green eye.
