Ash and Scar
.................................

We choose the thing that will destroy us
ash and scar, unwritten worlds folded,
thrown beyond our bodies. We were told
to fear flame but look into its marigold

of blooming light, our eyes granulated.
We want to emerge complete, forgetful
leaving it all behind, translucent
as ash and scar, wormskin in water.

Thrown beyond the body, we choose
to look into the white noise of daisies
find our hair transformed into petals.
The thing that will destroy us we choose
to dissolve in, green-fingered - weeping.
