sadness hopped a plan. first class.
made its way over here. 500 miles.
it came to put its sticky wet fingers around my neck
and sit on my lap. demanding attention.
brought along rain and a thick blanket of gray.
for effect. i suppose. to make its presence felt.
presents best left unwrapped. take them back
and exchange them for something more useful.
a necessary by product of a month best waited out.
on some tropical island. sipping the sickly sweet nectar
drawn from some citron orb. mixed with 80-proof
something-or-other.
