Colophon, for Donna: The Elixir by which
the Profane Nourishes the Sacred
.................................
Midwife, wetnurse--yours the grail
And net of pearls, the pearly crown
And veil; I the boar, the lunar
Tusk, and I the gash and bloody
Calf, and I the archer maimed
And felled; you the diamond-bolt
My blooming chest embraces, yours
The ghastly necklace--I the skull
Kept warm between your breasts, the mead
Distilled and sweetened by your breath,
Elixir alchemized by art;
I your nourishment profane,
Sphere of semen swimming through tears.

Today, George Harrison's ashes
will be given to the Ganges. Give me
love, give me love, give me peace on Earth.
May he find his way to the salt; may
the water that holds him evaporate;
may he, too, become our breathing.
