i threw out all your envelopes today
even the one with 'this one goes out
to the one i love' written on the outside
for all the world to see

took down the white box -- the dutch dictionary
the frayed toothbrush you left behind because
you needed a new one anyhow the letters
the box the extra large condoms came in

it still makes me laugh to remember when we bought them
how the clerk forgot to demagnetize the package and the
alarm went off as we were leaving and the security guy
kept yelling it's okay! it's okay! it's just the condoms!
it's the condoms!
