Jeffrey Thomson was born in Iowa and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and Madison, Wisconsin. He was a ski bum in Crested Butte, Colorado, bartending by night and skiing by day -- before returning to graduate school. Jeffrey holds a PhD from the University of Missouri, and is currently a Visiting Professor of English and Creative Writing at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington.

His work has appeared in Puerto del Sol, Quarterly West, Mississippi Valley Review, and others. He was a Writing Fellow at the 1996 Writers at Work conference, held in Park City, Utah, and is a three-time winner of the Academy of American Poets Prize.
